Fox’s ratings juggernaut Empire concluded its first season last night with more of the fireworks that have defined the freshman hit.
Wednesdays will certainly feel emptier in its absence, but in the meantime, we’ve taken a casual guess at what to expect next season. Spoilers and pillow-smothering references abound.
Cookie and Lucious reunite while he is in prison, promising to remarry and be stronger than ever. The union is merely pretense for schemes both are planning to gain an upper hand at Empire. The reunion lasts for approximately 10 minutes of episode time. 1-1
Seeking to exorcise the trauma of having a distant, unloving father, Jamal mounts a multimillion-dollar Broadway musical adaptation of “There Will Be Blood.” Reviews are mixed. 20-1
Andre and Rhonda dangle the possibility of Lucious’ first grandchild as emotional leverage to curry favor and deflect from Uncle Vernon’s disappearance. Lucious divides his children by naming the infant his successor. 3-1
Naomi Campbell’s character Camilla returns and throws a phone at Lucious. 5-1
The Lyons family goes on OWN’s “Iyanla: Fix My Life”. Initially slated for a 45-minute special, it takes six months of round-the-clock sessions utilizing scream therapy, boxing classes and team-building exercises on a rope-training course to restore harmony to the Lyons clan. 100-1
